Hibernation

Awaken from a deep winter,
Long covered over
Lie, neglected for other things,
Busy rushing with this and that
Obligations and complications.
A few precious moments between
The spaces of work and worry
Out on the steps,
In the days of a new spring;
The warm summer sun
Melts the ice away so timidly.
Whispering gently,
To the dreams of our souls,
"Wake up and remember,
Take a chance on the future."
In a clear blue sky it is easy
To recall those lofty dreams
We held in private;
Tangled down now
With cobwebs of exhaustion.
Take the time once again
To hear in the rustling of the trees,
Those dreams in you
That will always be.
